Ivan Neill (priest)

The Very. Rev Ivan Delacherois Neill,[1]CB, OBE, MA was an eminent Anglican priest in the 20th century.[2]

He was born into an ecclesiastical family[3] on 10 July 1912 and educated at St Dunstan's College and Jesus College, Cambridge. He was ordained in 1937[4] and began his career with curacies at St Mary, West Kensington and Christ Church, Crouch End. During the war he became a Chaplain to the Forces, rising in time to be its Chaplain-General.[5] In 1966 he became Provost of Sheffield, a post he held until 1974.

An Honorary Chaplain to the Queen[6] and a Knight Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau he died on 18 June 2001.[7]
